Kerry Brainard Verdi is a highly respected white collar crime attorney with a diverse practice focused on complex investigations, enforcement matters, and high-stakes litigation involving both corporations and individuals. Her work spans jury trials, administrative and regulatory hearings, internal investigations, arbitrations, and appellate matters across state and federal courts and agencies nationwide.

Ms. Verdi has consistently been recognized as a DC Super Lawyer in the area of white collar crime and was named by the National Law Journal as one of the Nation’s Top 50 White Collar Trailblazers.

Ms. Verdi represents corporate clients in sensitive grand jury investigations and internal investigations involving allegations of corporate espionage and theft of trade secrets, as well as insurance and securities regulation enforcement proceedings and discrimination lawsuits. She also has significant experience defending companies and individuals in False Claims Act and qui tam litigation. In addition, she assists corporations with due diligence, internal investigations, and compliance training related to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Alongside her corporate representations, Ms. Verdi regularly advises and defends individuals facing investigations, prosecutions, and appeals in complex criminal matters. Her experience includes cases involving financial fraud allegations, sensitive national security matters, mail and wire fraud, and criminal tax violations. Her practice further includes defending civil matters involving alleged violations of the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark Law, as well as claims involving breach of contract, defamation, and other civil tort allegations.

Ms. Verdi has also represented nonprofit organizations and served as outside counsel to the House of Representatives Committee on Ethics during a difficult and lengthy investigation of a Member of Congress, which included an in-depth review of the actions of the Committee itself.

Ms. Verdi is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, New York, and Virginia. She is an active member of the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia and the American Bar Association.

She earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law in 2001, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Michigan State University in 1998, graduating as a Phi Beta Kappa Honors Graduate.
