Christopher Chaney is a highly regarded criminal defense attorney and the Founder of the Law Offices of Christopher Chaney, based in Southern California. Since founding the firm in 2019, Mr. Chaney has built a statewide and national criminal defense practice, representing individuals in both state and federal courts. His experience spans a broad range of serious criminal matters, including homicide, conspiracy, RICO and racketeering prosecutions, fraud and identity theft, domestic violence, sex crimes, and narcotics offenses, among others. His clients have included professionals such as doctors, lawyers, educators, law enforcement officers, and high-profile public figures.
A Southern California native, Mr. Chaney brings a multidisciplinary academic and professional background to his practice. He earned his bachelor’s degree in archaeological and anthropological studies, followed by a master’s degree from Boston University, and his Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.
While in law school, Mr. Chaney served as a certified Law Clerk with the Los Angeles County Office of the District Attorney, where he participated in multiple high-profile murder trials and grand jury investigations and conducted preliminary hearings. His prosecutorial experience includes work at the Los Angeles Superior Court Airport Courthouse, covering West Los Angeles jurisdictions, as well as service in the Major Crimes Division at the Hall of Justice in Downtown LA, where he focused on complex and high-profile prosecutions across LA County.
Mr. Chaney is an active member of the State Bar of California and is admitted to practice in multiple federal court jurisdictions. He is also a member of the California Lawyers Association’s Criminal Law Section, the Beverly Hills Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
